Space is limited for these noteworthy comedy showcases, so get your tickets. Then, walk around with a little extra pride this week, knowing you're supporting local stand-up, helping your community, and you're in for some serious laughs.

Wednesday, April 24 -- 8 p.m.
LOL for LLS
Milk Bar,  1840 Haight (at Stanyan)

Mr. Marina finalist Eric Barry is turning his weekly local comedy showcase at Milk Bar into a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society next week as part of the fundraising efforts on which he's judged for the competition.

The showcase, LOL for LLS, is hosted by Barry and feature 12 local comedians: OJ Patterson, Vince Mancini, Leslie Small, Kaseem Bentley, Josh Marcus, Paul Sanford, Matt Lieb, Alex Q. Huffman, Alison Stevenson, Ivan Hernandez, Joe Gorman, and Stefan Davis.

Entry is free, but donations are encouraged; you can get tickets online for free, $10, $25, or $50, or make a donation at the event. All proceeds from ticket purchases go directly to LLS. Davis is also donating 50 percent of sales of his comedy CD at the event, and 10 percent of bar proceeds will be donated -- so you can drink up, laugh, and pat yourself on the back for supporting a good cause!

Mr. Marina is a fundraising competition that pokes fun at the stereotypes of San Francisco's Marina District, crowning the candidate who best fits the beloved popped collar, striped shirt, morning jog, white-privilege stereotypes for which the neighborhood is known. This reporter won't pass judgement; check out Barry at the show and decide for yourself.

Friday, April 27 -- 9:30 p.m.
Snob Theater Second Anniversary Show
The Dark Room,  2263 Mission (@19th)

Snob Theater combines up-and-coming local indie rock musicians and stand-up comedians. Local comedian and music blogger Shawn Robbins has produced and hosted the monthly showcase for all of its two years, in which it has filled some of the best theaters in San Francisco and been featured at SF Sketchfest and Portland's prestigious Brigdetown Comedy Festival. The April 27 second anniversary show is one of only a handful left before the series ends in June, when Robbins will leave the Bay Area to pursue a Coast Guard career in New England.

The show this time welcomes special guest James Adomian (of Comedy Bang Bang and Last Comic Standing), Bay Area all-star Brendan Lynch, and the local comedians who performed for Snob Theater's first show: Jules Posner and Natasha Muse. This month's musical guests are indie pop duo Ramon & Jessica and the folk rock outfit Passenger & Pilot.

The cozy Dark Room setting makes the show an intimate experience. Tickets are $10 at Eventbrite.
