Black Futurist Author D. Scot Miller: "We Are the Scribes of the Jubilee Apocalypse."

​Wait -- there might be people who aren't white in the fictional dystopian future/dragon-type fantasy world? Who don't get killed in the first five minutes? And who aren't self-for-white-person-sacrificing spiritual guides? We had always suspected as much, but you sure can't tell by watching a movie. At the Black Futurist Reading and Open Mic, find writers and readers in an anarchistic rampage across stereotypes. "As black writers we are the scribes of the jubilee apocalypse," writes host D. Scot Miller, while reviewing the life of Chester Himes on his blog. He also calls it Afrosurrealism. In fact he's written a manifesto called AfroSurreal. Also hosting is author Shawn Taylor, and together they welcome "all diasporic, genre-defying sci-fi and speculative works." One of which we hope gets made into a movie.
