Street Fashion of the Academy of Sciences' "Nightlife"

By Michelle Tea Being at the Academy of Sciences after hours for their Thursday night "Nightlife" series feels sneaky and exciting, like From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler. Haven't you spent your whole life longing to be locked up in a Museum overnight? This is as close as you are going to get. Thursday nights at the Academy are the best because A. No children, B. Only $12 C. People are getting drunk and dancing in the Aquarium. And, of course D. - When else would you actually dress up to go look at taxidermied animals and Bolivian frogs and whatnot?

Does Monsieur have the Gaul to dress like this on the daily, or was it special for the cheese-themed program on May 26th? Uncertain, but just as cheese is enjoyed outside of France, so should berets, red scarves, Gallic stripes and a smart jacket.

The beauty in the sequined skirt is Samantha Kopf. As sweet as she is gorgeous. And a talented artist as well.


The poison dart frogs were sporting their evening best green and black skins; two parts superhero, one part under-armor, and vastly more functional than the 'Iron Man' suit. These two amphibs weren't shy in exhibiting their x-rated mating behavior live for the audience. But be warned, the poison dart frog suit packs a powerful punch with a pocket of poison strong enough for any predator. Who says fashion isn't functional?
