Make Your Summer a Circus Summer, Starting Tomorrow
In this week's SF Weekly, our digital-media advice guru Anna Pulley dishes about the Bay area's thriving circus/acrobatics/workout scene. Here's another batch of Pulley recommendations, this time a big 'ol batch of circus-style events to amuse, amaze, and perhaps inspire you to take to the trapezes yourself.

July 1 and 2 at 8 pm: Twisted Tale
Featuring The Paper Doll Militia and Sweet Can Circus, this Twisted Tale (3316 24th St, S.F.) aerial theater production mashes up fairytales with acrobatics, animation, and shadow puppetry. Part of Dance Mission's Down and Dirty Dance Series. $16-$20.
July 1 at 12 pm and July 2 at 12 pm and
2:15 pm: Circus Bella
Part of the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (760 Howard St), Circus Bella showcases trapeze, rope walking, a nine-person juggling act, contortion, and clowning, set to live music. Plus, klezmer! Free.
July 10, 17, and 24th, from 2-4pm: Picklewater Free Circus
Part of the five months-long Jewels in the Square festival, Picklewater will perform, juggle, and contort in Union Square for its fourth year in a row, featuring professionals and students alike. Free.
July 15 and 16, 8 pm: The Shadow Circus Show
Shadow Circus Creature Theatre, self-described as a "foul-mouthed, blasphemous, belligerent puppetry troupe" is bringing back their volatile variety show to Stage Werx (533 Sutter St). With special guest star cabaret performer Jason Brock, burlesque artist Lady Satan and magician / sideshow artist Hernan Cortez. $15.
